Alresford's eel house open to visitors

From the Hampshire Chronicle :  Alresford’S Eel House will be open to visitors next month on both Bank Holidays.

The New Alresford Town Trust, who look after the building on the River Alre, will open it on May 3 and 16 from 11am to 5pm.

It was built in 1820 and for many years was used to catch eels for the table. Following its falling into a state of disrepair the building has now been restored and it is planned to restore the eel traps inside the building over the next twelve months.

Volunteers are needed to help at the Eel House and should contact Bryce Mansfield on 01962 733816 or by email MansBryce@aol.com
