Garden Inspiration at Haslemere Museum

Some of Haslemere’s best stocked gardens, including Sir Vernon Ellis’s Shalford House garden, will be providing some unusual plants for the annual Spring Plant Sale at Haslemere Museum on Saturday 12th May, from 11am to 1pm. The colourful event is being organised by Museum Trustees, Jane Clayton and Sarah Bain.

In addition to the generous contribution from Shalford House, the Museum’s Lecture Hall will be filled with a huge array of perennials, summer bedding, vegetables and herbs. Most of the plants have been raised and nurtured by the Museum’s more green-fingered trustees, volunteers and friends.

As in previous years, Transform Landscapes will be running a free garden surgery, offering expert advice on all manner of garden problems. Furnace Place Estate, a local farming business, will be bringing their cereal based Imbhams Farm Granary food products for sale.

There will also be a selection of small garden ornaments and garden miscellanea, so together with the wide range of plants on offer, this year’s sale promises to have plenty for everyone - struggling gardeners, rare plant hunters and anyone after a bargain.

The Plant Sale is not only the perfect opportunity to buy some lovely plants to fill the gaps left after a particularly cold late winter, but also one to help the Museum, with all proceeds going towards its work.
