Misleading leasehold agreements are put in the spotlight

A recent report on new-build homes reveals that home-seekers have been routinely misled by property developers and conveyancing lawyers into buying leasehold properties with punitive fees and charges attached.

The report from consumer body Which highlights how some developers include ‘doubling clauses’ in leases that hike ground rents. It also reveals that many homeowners have been forced to pay extortionate fees to make minor alterations to their homes.
